BoinxTV in Education

Boinx Software is deeply rooted in education. iStopMotion for example is used by educators around the world to make students familiar with basic concepts of animation and film making.

BoinxTV is great for education. Students, teachers and faculty alike can easily produce their own shows, can record lectures an seminars, or events like the yuletide play or sport events. BoinxTV helps enrich student studies and school/ campus life using the latest in emerging technologies.

Creating movies with BoinxTV help students to

  • understand how the live production of a television show works
  • have hands-on experience in crating a production
  • develop their organizational, technical and creative skills
  • learn to express their point of view, in collaboration with their team members
  • present their school or university in the community

The greatest use for BoinxTV for us is when we do our live event broadcasts. Most school events take place in a gym or auditorium. We generally have 3 to 5 camera angles and we will use BoinxTV to add titles, change camera angles, keep scores, and broadcast video to a Tandberg video teleconferencing unit and Ustream.

Hands-on with SchoolTV

Computers and iPods are already part of students' everyday lives. They live, and learn, with technology, and through technology. Not only do they absorb the curriculum, they also create educational content themselves. Students learn to create their own TV-style shows. They learn the necessary requirements and workflows behind the scenes, and develop their media competences. For most students, it is a much more satisfying and motivating experience to have an active role in making a television show than just watching one.

We use BoinxTV to broadcast live news each and every morning at our elementary school. The broadcast consists of current events, poem of the day, did you know facts, weather, birthdays, perfect attendance, school absences as well as announcements from the office. Each student on the team has a role for the day. (...) The great thing is that they're already trained and I really don't have to do anything except for watch them and be proud. Thanks for creating such a fantastic product!

TV from students for students

BoinxTV opens up remarkable new opportunities with your school's TV-access to inform the school and community alike about educational projects and school activities, narrowing the gap between school and community. BoinxTV gives students an immediate sense of achievement—it's fun and motivating for those in front of the camera, but also for the operating studio team, to see the results immediately after the recording. Creating documentaries, conducting interviews, and developing events gives the students limitless possibilities for producing creative films in a virtual environment—building a learning experience that is personally relevant to them, that is personally created, written, edited, and photographed by them.

I use my Boinx TV a lot. I love the application. I use it very heavily for our morning news program. Our show is very layer intensive. (...) I love the layer effect and am now able to make the news look much more professional.? (...) We broadcast live every morning. (...)

Video in class projects

Class projects gets more vivid and fun with video. Video creators have to spend many hours editing their takes to get a professional-looking result. BoinxTV reduces the overall production time dramatically as cuts, graphic effects, titles and more can be applied easily during the recording of the show. Everything that can be done during the live recording does not have to be done in post-production. Students can focus on the content, and don't waste their time with extra editing. A basic video production with BoinxTV can be accomplished within theexisting timeframe of the class schedule. Students can focus on the content, and don't waste their time with editing. This is a big advantage: A basic video production with BoinxTV can be accomplished within the existing timeframe of the class schedule.

Recording seminars & lectures with BoinxTV

I just used Boinx TV to broadcast our Student Council candidate speeches. We are a K-5 school and the software worked great. I had a 5th grader control the transition layers and run the whole show. I am very pleased with the product and am planning some other uses for it.

We were working with students in oral expression. They had to prepare some news, interviews...in order to produce a TV programm. During a week, students of 13-15 years prepared the news, and finally we recorded the programm using BoinxTV for editing.

Recording seminars & lectures

Many university faculties have started to provide video podcasts of their lectures and seminars on their website, or on iTunes U. These podcasts have become the largest source of free mobile educational content, because "learning no longer happens only at the desk." (Apple)

Managing distribution of campus video podcasts is the easy part. But now, producing digital lessons finally becomes just as easy. Creating sequenced, subscription video podcasts is a snap. BoinxTV reduces overall production time, and dramatically cuts costs, while making graphic effects, titles, and sequencing more easily applied during show recording!

Hit the Stop Button and you're basically done! You can upload or transfer your movie to a web server or video-sharing platform. BoinxTV also interfaces with Apple's Podcast Producer' for even more sophisticated automated workflow and broadcast.

BoinxTV—Built for Education

BoinxTV significantly reduces the editing hours required to get a professional result. It also cuts down on overall production time by allowing extra effects, titles, and cuts to be added during recording! Students get immediate response and reaction to their work. Your on-camera people and your production crew, view their work in real time, and can make adjustments on the fly.

As an ADE and technology trainer I often have to deal with reluctant teachers. Often they asume media applications are difficult to master and that making movies or podcasts is something that's only 'available' to students. BoinxTV is so easy to use that I'm quite sure it will be helping me to make more teachers cross over to develop more media rich education.

The equipment of a full-blown television studio always has been a heavy investment for educational organizations or is simply out of reach. With BoinxTV you get an affordable, scalable and easy-to-learn solution to build a low-cost TV studio, even with multiple cameras. BoinxTV provides all the possibilities of expensive studio hardware, with software, to create shows with a higher production quality in less time at a fraction of the cost.
